Alzheimer Walk for Memories

The 7th Annual Walk for Memories was held at the UPEI Alumni Track on May 30th, 2010. It was a wonderful event enjoyed by all in attendance and was an undeniable success.

Through the hard work of Mike Redmond and the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. staff and volunteers the Walk for Memories 2010 was successful once again. Also valuable was the planning and layout of the run, which was provided by our run coordinator, Mandy MacKenna. We would like to thank them once again for their dedication. We would also like to extend our deep appreciation to Metro Credit Union, the Walk for Memories 2010 sponsor. Also a sincere thank you goes to Jamie Whynaut, who started our event off with a fun high energy warm-up. A big thank you to Elva Myers, our guest speaker; whose speech was full of candor and honesty, and was touching to all. We would also like to acknowledge our refreshment sponsors: Purity, ADL and Pepsi Bottling Co. A thank you also to the Red Hat Society of PEI for their continued support and friendship, it is cherished. As well, we would like to express our appreciation to the music makers: The Unforgettables, Four Wheel Drive and Con Zaat.

Thank you to all who participated in the walk, gathered pledges, and donated time and funds to our cause.

The Walk for Memories 2010 was a testament to the fact that by walking together we can provide help for today and hope for tomorrow.
